Professor Robin Jensen is Professor of the History of Christianity at Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts. She received her B.A. at Concordia College and her M.A., M. Phil., and Ph.D. at Columbia University/Union Theological Seminary and specializes in the literature of the early Christian church and the history of worship and liturgy. Her book, Understanding Early Christian Art, reflects her expertise in the history of Christian art and architecture. Her most recent book, Living Waters: The Symbols and Spaces of Faith and Christian Baptism, integrates her interest in symbols, liturgy, art and architecture. Her other scholarly interests include the history of worship, the regional and cultural diversity in early Christian movements (particularly the shape and practice of Christianity in Roman Africa), and the historical interactions of Muslims, Christians and Jews. Professor Jensen was chosen as a Henry Luce III fellow for 2001-2002. She is faculty director of the Andover Newton Theological School’s program in Theology and Arts. A member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, she joined the faculty in 1991.
