The Edward G. Weltin Lecture in Religious Studies

John Noonan Jr. (LLB, Harvard Law School) has been a US circuit judge since 1986. Prior to becoming a judge he taught law at University of Notre Dame and University of California, Berkeley. His interest in the relation between religion and government is reflected in his writings, which include The Believer and the Powers That Are: Cases, History and Other Data Bearing on the Relation of Religion and Government (1987), Bribes (1984), and A Private Choice: Abortion in America in the Seventies (1979).
