Pulping "The Hindus:" Freedom and Censorship in India

In February, Wendy Doniger’s The Hindus was pulled from the shelves by publisher Penguin India after one group filed a legal suit alleging the book “wounded” Hindus’ “religious feelings.”  The decision has sparked protests by Indian scholars, writers, artists and others against the diminishing strength of free speech in India.
